This years RevSpeed Super Battle was awesome! Lots of good competition, and with Tsukuba being such a short technical track, its never boring. I have wanted to visit Tsukuba Circuit since I first got into cars and started playing the Gran Turismo racing simulators so this was definitely a dream come true for me. The track was full of all the big-name tuning companies and even a few famous drivers including Tarzan Yamata and many others. Since I have so many photos from the event I will make this into a series, check back soon for part 2.
The famous Dunlop arch at turn 5.
A few of the participants waiting to get there picture taken for Rev Speed Magazine. Every car at the event eventually gets photographed for a spot in the magazine…I would hate to be taking the same exact shot of every car all day but I’m sure the money’s good!
…Which is packing over 800whp. The tires were breaking loose in 2nd and even 3rd gear on some parts of the track. Wait till’ you see the wheels!
At the very beginning of the event this Amuse Z33 was exiting the final turn as lost rear traction. He spun around almost 180 degrees and slammed into the pit wall. Luckily no one was hurt and the driver walked away with no injuries!
It was insane how fast the track was cleaned up! It seemed like only 15-20mins and there were cars blasting down the straightaway again with no remnants of the accident other than a light dusting of sand along the pit wall.
The Feel’s Civic Type-R is also a very nice ride. Since this car is in the street class the times don’t compare to the 5Zigen machine, but it still runs in the 1’05” range. That is very good considering this is a fully street legal car. All Street class cars have to pas an emissions test on the spot and have valid Shakken(inspection) paper work in order to enter the event in the Street class.
One of the street legal STI’s that was participating in the event. This one belongs to Original Runduce and was posting times in the 1’00″5 range. The car only makes around 400hp and is running on radial tires so posting times in the range is pretty impressive.
Well, that does it for Part 1 of the Rev Speed Super Battle coverage. I will have part 2 up in a day or two, I just don’t have time to post everything at once! Expect more photos and info on the bigger names such as Pan Speed, Revolution, R-Magic, AVO Turbo World, the Team Advance C6 Corvette and more. We’re also working on a video so stay tuned for that!
